Another activity involves a case study where learners analyze a political speech or media article, applying critical discourse analysis to uncover power relations, ideological biases, and social inequalities embedded within the discourse. Through guided questions and group discussions, learners critically examine the language choices, rhetorical devices, and persuasive techniques employed to shape public opinion and construct political or media narratives.
For the project-based learning activity, learners are encouraged to choose a specific domain of discourse analysis, such as healthcare communication, educational discourse, or gender and discourse. They are tasked with conducting an in-depth analysis of relevant texts, interviews, or observations within their chosen domain. This project involves applying various discourse analysis techniques, utilizing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, and presenting their findings in a comprehensive report or presentation.
